My research activity is focused on the study by next generation sequencing of two highly consanguineous Iranian families in which intellectual disability is segregating with an autosomal recessive inheritance. If a candidate gene will be detected we plan to confirm its role by studying the segregation of the mutation in the family and, whenever the gene is highly conserved, by creating a Zebrafish model.
