2004 – 2007 Full marks and honors (110/110, cum laude) in Biotechnology (first level degree). University of Pavia, Pavia - Italy. Research thesis with experimental work on alternative splicing.

Research experience
Sept 2009 – present PhD in Genetic and Biomolecular Science of the University of Pavia, at the IGM-CNR, in the Molecular and Cellular Biology of the Nucleus Section directed by Dr. Giuseppe Biamonti, under the supervision of Dr. Claudia Ghigna. My primary research interest is to investigate and characterize the pathways regulating alternative splicing that become deregulated in cancer. To this aim I use as an experimental model the Ron proto-oncogene, a tyrosine kinase receptor that controls processes occurring during the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition, a cellular program involved in cancers progression and metastasis formation. During this period, I contributed also in investigating how the cancer-specific ΔRon splicing isoform could be used as a target for new potential anti-metastatic therapies.
Sept 2007 – Jul 2009 Second Level Graduation Thesis at the IGM-CNR under the supervision of Dr. Claudia Ghigna. My main aim was to define the molecular mechanism and the splicing factors regulating the Ron proto-oncogene alternative splicing. In this period, I contributed to the identification of signaling pathways regulating the expression level of SRSF1, the splicing factor and proto-oncogene that controls Ron splicing during the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition.
Sept 2006 – Jul 2007 First Level Graduation Thesis at the IGM-CNR under the supervision of Dr. Claudia Ghigna. My specific aim was to identify cis- and trans-acting elements involved in the regulation of alternative splicing of the Ron proto-oncogene.

Additional Education and Research experiences
AY 2011 – 2012 Tutoring collaboration in a project of the University of Pavia for the “Genetics course”. My roles as tutor are preparation and executions of exercises, support to students during the didactic activity.
AY 2008 – 2009 Tutoring collaboration in a project of the University of Pavia for the “Didactic laboratory of Molecular Biology”. My roles as tutor have been preparation of material for experiments, organization, achievement and support to students during the didactic activity.
