Very good command of Office suite (in particular Word and Power Point). Good command of various Bioinformatics software tools.
Research Project
Identification of molecular and transgenic tools for the development of sex-specific markers in the tiger mosquito Aedes albopictus
My research activity focuses on the Asian tiger mosquito Aedes albopictus. The tiger mosquito is an extremely invasive species and the identification of molecular tools for the development of sexing methods for enhancing the Sterile Insect Technique is required.
To this aim, I’m focusing on the cytogenetic characterisation of the mitotic and polytene chromosome complement of Ae. Albopictus and on the characterisation of the sex determining chromosomes through the identification of male/female-linked sequences. Additionally, the project aims at the identification of early expressed genes and at the assessment of their sex-specific expression profiles during the developmental process.
