Research Project
Morphological, molecular and behavioural studies during the central nervous system development
At present, no information are available on the functional correlation between the prolidase deficiency (PD), a rare recessive human disease (incidence: 1-2 people out of 1 million), and the mental retardation described in PD patients. Recently a mouse model was characterized, the dal mutant mouse, which will allow to examine the role of prolidase and the consequences of its absence. Different levels studies will allow to identify morphological and/or molecular pathways alterations, and eventual behavioural disorders. The present work will be the first study on postnatal brain development in dal mutant mice.
