Technical competence:
- Excellent knowledge in the main molecular biology techniques: PCR, iPCR, RT-PCR, cloning, electrophoresis, nucleic acid purification, probe design, blotting (Southern, Northern and Western), In situ hybridization, FISH, PRINS;
- Very good knowledge in Real Time PCR, both in relative and absolute quantification, with a very good knowledge of related softwares, such as MiniOpticon and CFX by BioRad;
- Very good knowledge in molecular biology related softwares, for sequence analyses, alignments, probe design, genome and trascriptome analyses (VectorNTI, AlignX, CLC Workbench, Muscle, T-Coffee, Praline, Primer3, Beacon Designer, and many others);
- Good knowledge in recombinant protein production and purification, preparation of constructs for expression in bacteria and yeast, gel filtration, ion-exchange chromatography;
- Basic knowledge of 3D protein structure and docking programmes (Phyre, Pymol)
- Good experience in insect transgenesis: construct preparation, micro-injection in embryos, screening and setting of transgenic insect lines;
- Insectary management and insect rearing;
- Excellent knowledge in MS-Office and Adobe applications and Internet use.
Other skills:
First language Italian; fluent in English.
