LABORATORY EXPERIENCE
November 2008 to Present: PhD student of PhD course in Biomolecular and Genetic Sciences. The research project is being carried out in the Animal Genetics laboratory, directed by Professor Luca Ferretti, at the Department of Genetics and Microbiology, University of Pavia.
Main research topics: analysis of mitochondrial DNA and Y chromosome variability in Bos taurus.
Internship at IGA (Institute of Applied Technology), Udine, under the supervision of Dr. Federica Cattonaro, in order to prepare DNA libraries for multiplexed sequencing of mitochondrial genomes with Illumina Genome Analyzer IIx.
November 2007 to July 2008: Post-graduate student. Thesis work on analysis of cattle mitochondrial DNA variability.
Thesis title: “Lo studio del DNA mitocondriale rivela tracce di Bos primigenius nei bovini moderni” (MtDNA reveals footprints of Bos primigenius in modern cattle)
