Experimental PhD project:
Whole Genome Shuffling is a recent technique that aims to obtain bacteria with a desired phenotype through repeated fusions of mutants of the same species or even different species. During my PhD project I will use this technique to obtain strains of Bacillus with improved production capacity for enzymes of industrial interest. The ultimate goal will be to obtain a strain easy to manipulate genetically, able to grow on low cost media and to secrete high concentrations of industrial enzymes.
