Analysis of DNA repair genes (in particular TDP2, 5'-Tyrosyl-DNA-Phosphodiesterase) within plant cells in response to genotoxic stress
Achievements reached during the 1st year of PhD activity:
- Isolation and characterization of MtTDP2 gene (first time in plants) in the model legume Medicago truncatula
- Identification of TDP2 family in plants
- MtTDP2 is up-regulated in response to osmotic and photo-oxidative stress, and in relationship with photomorphogenesis
- Production of M. truncatula transgenic MtTDP2-overexpressing lines.
Production of “famigenic” binary plasmids, for plant A. tumefaciens-mediated transformation, that are able to transfer DNA sequences from the same taxonomic family of the target plant
