“ Immunohistochemical and ultrastructural study on the nucleus of skeletal muscle cells, in age-related atrophy and in myotonic dystrophy”. In the research we use samples in vivo and in vitro, which apply mainly to histochemical methods and immunohistochemical light microscopy (bright field, phase contrast, DIC and fluorescence) and transmission electron microscopy (for studies of morphology, immunocytochemistry, and pre-and post-ebbending) and Western blotting techniques, in order to study the structural and molecular characteristics of the cell nucleus of myocytes and satellite cells, in humans and mice during aging (when the onset of sarcopenia causes muscle atrophy) and myotonic dystrophic disorders (also characterized by decreased muscle mass).
